Experience of Heart Bypass Surgery in Singapore

Experience of Heart Bypass Surgery in Singapore

I had a good experience getting a Lap band procedure done in Singapore. Initially I was a little apprehensive but once I landed at the hospital, the experience turned out really well. The doctors were very professional and the infrastructure was impressive.

I was suffering from a chest pain and as time passed it becomed much more severe. I consulted the cardiologist and he did some test on me and then came to the conclusion that i had a blockage in the coronary artery of my heart. He suggested me for a bypass surgery as the condition of the blockage was not good.

I really should thanks the folks of MedicalSingapore.com,they helped me arrange the treatment and stay in Singapore. The hostital’s infrastructure and the medical facilities was really very impressive with best qualified doctors.

The doctors briefly explained me that the coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) is the surgical treatment for coronary artery disease (CAD). It is a safe procedure that is mostly performed for treating Coronary artery disease(CAD). Coronary artery disease is due to the hardening and narrowing(atherosclerosis) of the coronary arteries.Actually the arteries that bring blood to the heart muscle (coronary arteries) can become clogged by plaque (a buildup of fat, cholesterol and other substances). This can slow or stop oxygen-rich blood to flow through the heart’s blood vessels. If left untreated, this may lead to chest pain and a heart attack.

Coronary Bypass Surgery is a way to treat these blocked heart arteries by creating new passages for blood to flow to your heart muscle. In this process a surgeon uses a segment of a healthy blood vessel (either an artery or vein) from another part of the body (called grafts) and uses it to create a detour or bypass around the blocked portion of the coronary artery. As a result, oxygen-rich blood can flow more freely to nourish the heart muscle. This surgery is usually performed with the heart stopped, necessitating the usage of cardiopulmonary bypass; techniques are available to perform CABG on a beating heart, so-called “off-pump” surgery.Depending on the number of blocked coronary arteries, a patient may need one, two, three or more bypasses.

They explained Why the Procedure is needed to be Performed?

Coronary arteries are the small blood vessels that supply your heart with oxygen and nutrients that are carried in your blood. When one or more of the coronary arteries becomes partly or totally blocked, heart does not get enough blood. This is called ischemic heart disease or coronary artery disease. It can cause chest pain (angina). Coronary artery bypass surgery can be used to treat coronary artery disease. Your doctor may have tried to treat you with medicines only. You may have also tried cardiac rehabilitation. Coronary artery disease varies a lot from person to person, so the way it is diagnosed and treated will also vary. Heart bypass surgery is just one treatment. It will be right for some people, but others may have other kinds of treatment.

There the doctors also suggested me for ByPass Surgery. There the expert surgeons did my surgery and it is totally successful. After the operation there was a groggy and disoriented feeling but it went away in few days. There was little pain in the sites of incisions that is both the chest and the leg(as my segment of blood vessel was taken from the leg) but Painkillers was given which relived me. I was discharged from the hospital within five days. In this period, tests were conducted to assess and monitor my condition.

However to fully recovery it took a few months or more. After fully recoverery, i joined a cardiac rehabilitation program. This program teaches stress management techniques and other important issues like about diet and exercise. This helps met a lot to rebuild my strength and confidence. Now one year after the surgery i am planning to join my job back.

I thank the doctors and the staff for bringing my life back on track. I must confess that Singapore offers world class medical facilities, comparable with any of the western countries. Singapore has state of the art hospitals and the best qualified doctors. With the best infrastructure, the best possible medical facilities, accompanied with the most competitive prices, you can get the treatment done in Singapore at the lowest charges. At last i should not forget thanking MedicalSingapore.com that helped me to acive this. They arranged for me the treatment, surgery, hospitalization, stay, visa and airtravel in Singapore an dmade everything so simple and easy for me.

A Personal Story of a Teenager’s Drug Addiction and Experience at a Teen Treatment Center

According to Diagnostics and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, drug dependence is a negative way of making use of a substance that causes a number of problems which leads to taking more of the said drug to get intoxicated. Drug dependence according to many teen treatment centers, also pertains to issues that happen (withdrawal symptoms) when the effects of the drug wane, taking more of a drug for a longer time than needed and other problems in life that happen due to using one type of drug or more.

The ambience or the atmosphere is enough to turn a seemingly sober person get into drugs.  Let me cite you a real life incident. 18 year old Bryan Thompson was a DJ at an up-market night club in California. This club always used to throng with youngsters and teenagers who would have a good time.  Among dancing and drinking, there were also some teenagers who would take drugs including Ecstasy Bryan who was just a DJ would play songs on the turntable and entertain people.  One day one of the people in that group offered a snort to Bryan. Though he was personally against drugs, he decided to take it for a lark. Soon he found himself entering into a phase when he would take drugs occasionally.

In a span of two months, Bryan was found taking more and more of drugs and hanging around with this juvenile crowd.  He drifted away from DJing and he would come to the night club to actually take drugs.  There was another replacement DJ that would play the songs while he would find excuses to leave the turntable to be with these druggies.  Bryan who was now jobless and had to pay for his college asked for his parents to pay money for his college. Though they paid, they found that Bryan had actually used up his financial reserves and pocket money, into buying drugs.

Though the parents reprimanded him, it fell into deaf years. One day while Bryan was taking drugs and puffing away to glory in a corner of the night club, there was a raid by the anti-narcotics wins. The police stormed in and arrested people who were operating the club to perpetrate drug addiction. The club owner was arrested and so was this group who had managed to influence many people into taking drugs. Bryan was arrested too and he had to face a lot of ridicule and embarrassment.  Though he was released later on bail, he was actually sent to a teen treatment centers along with many teens so that they could be rehabilitated.

The teen treatment center which was financed by a charity organization treated Bryan comprehensively. With a system of medication, individual and group therapy, they were able to transform the careless guy into someone who was responsible for his life. Bryan regretted that he had wasted his life meandering along without an aim in life as he was influenced by dopers who had nothing else to do but spoil lives of people.  Now Bryan is a changed boy and has stopped taking drugs forever.

My cardiac rehabilitation experience

I just wanted to share what my experience with cardiac rehabilitation. I highly encourage everyone that has the opportunity to give it a try. It turns out that I probably did not need the formal Rehabilitation. They actually slowed me down from what I was doing prior to the rehabilitation.

But it was really a learning experience into my heart rate and BP. When I started, I was already ahead of every other person in my class. But what is so great is the encouragement that you get. I can not imagine another place where everyone would cheer when I ran my first mile… or made it 3 miles in 40 minutes. At the same time, I was giving a high five to one of my cohorts for making it her first mile. What boggles my mind is the statistics that only 20% of patients continue to exercise after rehabilitation. Crazy!!

My cardiac rehabilitation has been a good experience too. It is comforting to know that a nurse is keeping an eye on you during your workout. For me a nurse takes my blood pressure once before, once during and once after my workout. Everyone in class wears a heart rate monitor and one nurse monitors our heart rate at a computer screen.

This past Wednesday I took a stress test at my cardiologists office to help determine my target heart rate for rehabilitation. I worked out before surgery and will continue my cardio workouts too after rehabilitation. My cardiologist often comments that he would have a lot less return business if his patients would continue with exercise programs after AVR surgery. The majority of the people who were in my rehabilitation program indicated they had little interest in continuing with an exercise program after they finished cardiac rehabilitation.
